Lady Bird: First Lady of the Land, a one-act opera by composer Henry Mollicone and Pulitzer Prize winning lyricist, Sheldon Harnick, is based upon events in the life of first lady Lady Bird Johnson, the wife of Lyndon Baines Johnson. In this special collaborative performance, we are committed to honoring Lady Bird Johnson’s contribution to America, as the woman who stood witness to the historical magnitude of her husband’s term as President of the United States and rode down bigotry as a daughter of the South. ONE performance only, that also features Felix Mendelssohn’s beautiful Lobgesang, Op. 52, a Symphony-Cantata for soloists, chorus and orchestra.

Falstaff, Giuseppe Verdi
Role: Nanetta

ADAPTED FROM SHAKESPEARE’S ‘THE MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR’
SUNG IN ENGLISH

Verdi’s sophisticated Shakespearean comedy Falstaff brimming with backfired plans, failed disguises, and uproarious personalities comes to our ‘Opera in the Park’ series. This brilliant opera—Verdi’s last—features one of Shakespeare’s most memorable characters: the rotund and lovably oafish knight Falstaff, from the Bard’s Henry IV and The Merry Wives of Windsor. In this operatic take, Falstaff attempts to seduce two wealthy (and married) women—but they concoct their own scheme to expose him for a fool.
